The Cavaliers First Pick Is The Only Pick

CLEVELAND (92.3 The Fan) — 1.7 percent. That’s all it took and the Cleveland Cavaliers are back at the top of the NBA Draft. The spot that produced Brad Daugherty, LeBron James and Kyrie Irving. Anthony Bennett, too, but this is not the time for that conversation.

In the case of James and the 2003 Draft, there was no deliberation to be had. Kyrie Irving was almost a lock over Derrick Williams in 2011, but a small contingent sought Williams as the top pick. Luckily, the Cavs made the right choice there. As for Bennett, the PF from UNLV was the last person anyone thought actually had a chance at landing at #1.

There are three choices who will be legitimately considered for the Cavaliers’ third selection at number one overall in four years: Jabari Parker of Duke, Joel Embiid of Kansas, and Andrew Wiggins, also a Jayhawk.
